Talent Show

On Tuesday we had the talent show at school.  It was a fun, yet slightly chaotic event from an organizer's stance.  Jayna did her hulas again.  There were two "acts".  In act 1 were all the Kindy-2nd graders while act 2 was 3rd-5th grade.  Three of my favorite acts were 5th graders. One of my 5th grades, Morgan chose to do THIS song.  She did this dance, or very similar.  Most of the songs kids sang or danced to were Rhianna, Taylor Swift, One Direction, Cierra and other secular songs that are probably on the top 20 now or over the last year-- billionaire, in this moment, etc etc.  But Miss Morgan chose to follow her faith and danced to Tasha Cobb's Break Every Chain!  Sure the acts were supposed to be under three minutes.  But for all seven minutes she did her routine and the audience could repeatedly hear a song that with a message of her faith.
Another act that had people in our audience in smiles of pride was when Christopher sang I cross my Heart by George Straight.  Chris isn't just any 5th grader.  He lives with his grandparents.  His Grandma is one of our Cafeteria workers, so Chris is like family to our faculty and long time Sheffield families.  Add to that, Chris is blind.  He walked onto stage and effortless performed his solo.  He knew every word.  It was beautiful.

The last extra special performance of the night was our closing act a poem written by Frank.  He wrote about his life at Sheffield from Pre-K to 5th grade, specifically telling about each teacher by name, what they taught him yet with humor like how he is a talker and how he walks to a different beat.  Very cute.

And OF COURSE- My talented girl <3
