Day 1 started off with Crazy hat and sock day.
Apparently I became a slacker and missed the next two day's pictures: Favorite sports team (and of course they were decked out in Steelers... because that is Uncle Zach's dog more so than them actually care about football)
Then there was inside out day where they wore their clothes inside out. Jayna's class managed to choose to not follow rules and obey Ms. Jeannie that day so that was the end of spirit week for both kids pretty much. The next day was "twin" day but since Anthony lost his twin (Jayna) neither got to participate. The final day was Desmond T Doss Day (and crazy hair). But neither did crazy hair since Jayna wasn't allowed. Anthony wore a school shirt.
Happy National Crossing Guard Appreciation Day.... who even knew there was such a thing!? The school awarded me this On Feb 11th (a day early due to expected bad weather.... and I got to have the day off on the 12th thanks to snow!) This job sure beats BK. Wish it was more hours and better pay but if a job was based on morale alone this would be the job to have! Although the public school system doesn't work for my kids, I still enjoy working and volunteering for them!
February meant a big snow and 5 days off of school! We landed about 10" of that white stuff. City schools were off from Wed Feb 12 until they returned to school on Monday the 17 and the kids school was dismissed early on Wednesday at noon. (Jayna was also off Monday for her vision therapy in Charlottesville) It started snowing about 3-4pm. Alonza spent the whole 5 days with us and RJ walked to our house on Thursday morning and spent 4 days with us.
During the snow:
The next two days were filled with Snow play, way too much hot chocolate and video games and being snowed in! We had home made Heart shaped pizza on Valentine's for lunch.
Everyone vetoed snowcream... It just doesn't cut it when you are spolied by butter pecan or rocky road ice cream |
At Church on Sunday |
On the 17th the kids had off for President's day. We had a relaxed day at home in between my crossing guarding. Jayna gave herself a "facial and mani-pedi"
On the 19th Jayna had a Keyboarding Competition in Hurt, VA along with her other school band buddies. She played Merrily we roll along. She scored "superior" missing only 2 points out of 30.
We love Adventure club! We learned about the Olympics throughout February
I got my bundle of love on Saturday-- along with my kidlets of course, Ant's buddy Will and RJ... and since the weather was nice we took a walk to get snow cone!
We were able to save up and pay registration fees to re-enroll the kids on Wednesday (2/26) at their schools open house. I earned 1st and 2nd grade bragging rights in the math challenge (haha!) answering the 90 math questions correctly the quickest!
FINALLY all the snow had melted and the ground dried up enough to play outside recess again at school. And my four square lover couldn't have been happier to be playing again! (2/27)
After school that Thursday, Jayna had her first manicure at a nail place thanks to having won an on-line facebook contest. That girly couldn't have been happier!
And that covers a mass majority of February-- other than our favorite day of the month....
On a blog of its own!
Thanks for sharing fun memories from Feb.; needed uplifting after losing my dad the last day of the month!
